Sunday, 27 September 2026 is Safeguarding Sunday in the Archdiocese of Dublin, a day dedicated to highlighting how safeguarding is a key part of our parish life every day. We have learned from the past and use that knowledge to set and maintain the highest safeguarding standards.

Parish Barbecue Sunday 28th June 2026

On Sunday, 28th June after 11 am Mass we celebrated the centenary of our parish community with a BBQ held in the beautiful gardens behind St. Brigid’s Church, Killester.

In this our centenary year, we warmly invite you to participate in our Triduum to St. Brigid.

• Saturday, 31st January at 6.30pm (vigil)
• Sunday, 1st February at 11am
• Monday, 2nd February at 10am
• Tuesday, 3rd February at 10am

During the Masses the Litany of St. Brigid will be recited and a blessing will be given with the Parish’s holy relic of St. Brigid. The relic is only one of a few first-class relics of St. Brigid in Ireland. 

Celebrating Parish Community past present and Future
In 2026 our Parish will celebrate 100 years since the opening of St. Brigid's Parish, Killester. It will be a significant milestone for our community and an opportunity to reflect in thanksgiving on our Parish Past, Present and future. There are many events planned by our Pastoral Council and the Centenary committee. I would like to warmly invite you join with us in celebrating this joyful occasion.

Holy Hour of Contemplative Listening Prayer
(In the spirit of St. Brigid)

Every Thursday evening 

7:00pm to 8:00pm

STARTING Thursday, January 15^th 2026.

On 29th November, the Lassus Scholars (adult choir) and Piccolo Lasso (children’s choir) put on a wonderful evening of seasonal music at St Brigid’s Church, Killester. The concert raised over €2,000 for the painting of St. Brigid’s Church which celebrates its centenary in 2026.

You are invited to get ready for Christmas with an evening of exciting seasonal music with choruses, solos and audience carols! This concert is free of charge and any voluntary contributions made on the night will go towards fundraising for the painting of St. Brigid’s Church which celebrates its centenary in 2026.

The Killester Parish Annual Mass of Remembrance will take place on Sunday, 9 November at the 11:00am Mass. Join us as we remember and pray for all our parishioners who died in the past year.

A Message from Archbishop Dermot Farrell

I am taking the opportunity to write to you today, on Share Appeal Sunday, about the second collection taken up at weekend Masses throughout the year. Share, the diocesan development fund, depends on the generosity of parishioners across the Archdiocese.

Masses for the Feast of All Saints will be celebrated at 10:00am and 6:30pm

On Sunday, 2nd February 2025, Killester Parish welcomed the Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell for his second visit to Killester in 2025. The Archbishop celebrated Mass during which the rare relic of St. Brigid was on display. It was wonderful that so many people joined us online and to see so many people fill the church and be part of the ceremony to reinstate the relic in its new shrine.  

On 2^nd February 2025 at 11 am, the Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell, celebrated Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Killester. During the Mass the holy relic of St. Brigid was reinstated in a newly designed secure shrine. A blessing with the relic was given to the congregation.

On 1st January 2025, Fr. Joseph Whelan PP and the parish of Killester hosted the annual Diocesan Peace Mass. The Mass celebrated by Archbishop Dermot Farrell marked the 58th World Day of Peace and the start of the Jubilee Year of Hope. 

Advent is the name we give to the 24 days leading up to Christmas. Advent is all about waiting for something special, not just for Christ’s birth, but also for his second coming.
